I am not sure how the writers of Archer deemed season 3 passable because it sucked major. I think season 3 relied too heavily on Archer’s sex life especially with Pam and all his sexual deviances. I went in to season 3 of Archer hoping the dialogue would be as interesting, like in the first few seasons, also I thought- there would be more character development. However, in season 3, Lana becomes an Archer groupie- all the while complaining about Archer. I honestly, thought she moved on from this but clearly she has not, neither has Cyril, Cheryl or Mallory.
I would have thought, the writers would have focused more on Mallory and Archer’s backstory because Mallory was a spy once too. No, they left us hanging with the ‘skid marks’ that was Bert Reynolds, Katya, Barry etc, etc.
When I first caught this show, I eagerly waited for new episodes, now I find myself taping it to watch it when I have nothing more to do. Honestly, this show has lost its spark and its sad. What made this show awesome was the dialogue and exchanged between Archer, Mallory, Lana, Barry, Cyril, Pam etc. This past season focused solely on Archers sex life and it made for poor television. If I wanted to simply watch cartoon porn- I would google it. This show, originally, had the perfect mix of dialogue, adult humor and raunchiness that kept me coming back for more. However, now after having experienced this last scene- I am like Katya after having had sex with Archer- washing my mind in the sink with the help of Woodhouse.
Now, I am hoping Archer gets cartoon AIDS and dies- sad but true because I am tired of his bitching, moaning and annoyingness. Give someone else some screen time because I am growing tired of the lazy writing in this show.

This review is absolutely terrible. There are several fatal flaws in this argument and the assessment of the television series “Archer” to begin with. First and foremost, Archer season 4 has yet to premier; the season which the reviewer is so distastefully criticizing is season 3. The reasons the reviewer gives for discrediting season 3 is what made Archer the hit animated series it is today. The main character, Archer, whom the show is named after, is indeed obnoxious, he does complain, and he is sexually disgusting. This is the heart of the show and what gives it so much personality. Archer is a character that everyone loves to hate because of his attitude and behavior. Take out that and you are left with a moderately interesting animated show about espionage. Take the episode “the Double Deuce” from season 2 to drive my point home. It focuses mainly on Woodhouse and Malory’s past, leaving Archer playing a minor role which results in the episode being dry and rather boring, devoid of the infantile shenanigans Archer typically participates in. Without Archer and his abomination of a personality, there is no television show. It is this juvenile disposition juxtaposed against the typical serious, dry-witted classic James Bond film that makes this show humorous and unique. And, not to add insult to injury, but, judging by the reviewer’s writing style, I am unsure if the writer is even old enough to watch Archer without adult supervision.
The crux of Archer has far surpassed, “The main character, Archer, whom the show is named after, is indeed obnoxious, he does complain, and he is sexually disgusting”. Daniel Craig playes James Bond why- because he (arguably) fit the character. Were the 007 movies built around Sean Connery? The past 007 movies have NOT been about simply James Bond and his sexual exploits. If this were the case the series would have died in its infancy after the first 007 retired from the role. Who would James Bond be without ‘M’? or Sherlock Holmes be without Watson? or Batman be without Alfred?-they need supporting casts. Personally, I rather enjoyed “Double Deuce” because it gave us a little insight into Archers origins.I would agree that Archer does have “an abomination of a personality”.
How does a show that started off in season 1- with the average viewership being in the 2-million viewership range to a show struggling to get 1-million to watch. Season 3 was not as strong as Season 1 because of the poor writing and the need to rest the show on Archers sex life and not the dialogue, action, humor and adventure that really kept people watching. This past season focused primarily on Archers sex life and it made for poor television. Many of the characters seemed out of sync, Lana seemed less a fighter and more of a groupie, Cyril- less Cyril and more “Die Archer Die”, Pam- the bovine sex Queen and not the crappy HR person that interjects herself into everything etc, etc. Although, the past few seasons have had Archer and his direct link with James Bond- it was boring and seemed forced. How long do you think a show will last on simple cartoon sex? It did not work with Hung- so what makes you think it will work here. For instance, the first episode of the third season titled “Heart of Archness: Part I” featured Archer mourning the death of Katya but managing to have sex with almost every women he meets and becoming the “Pirate King” but yet acting like a squabbling child. The running ‘joke’ of almost every episode including, “Heart of Archness: Part 1-3″, “Crossing Over”, “Skin Game” was Archer can have sex and likes having sex with anything- o.k we got that now move on to more adventure. If I wanted to simply watch cartoon porn- I would google it. This show, originally, had the perfect mix of dialogue, adult humor and raunchiness that kept me coming back for more. However, now after having experienced this last season- I am like Katya after having had sex with Archer- washing my mind in the sink with the help of Woodhouse. Even James Bond had a soul, loyalty and a love interest and an interesting plot line not like in the episode titled, “Drift Problem”, Archer gets car, gets car stolen, tries to get it back with the help of his co-workers, is saved by Mallory, she stole the car- the end (lame). In the end, I am all for adult programming but at least take the time to wrap it in something other than the last 3 seasons of Archers bedsheets. For the record, English is not my primarily language.
