The writers of GCB have already written themselves in a closet. After watching every episode of this show since the pilot, I can now see this show will not last long. Primarily because the writers have been so interested in giving us content, they have covered every possible season and scenario in the first season. Let me explain.
First, I think the show is funny and I enjoy it message of forgiveness and marital fidelity. However, every episode I am reminded that Amanda and Bill were the ‘hotness’ in High School and she treated everyone like crap. She was evil in High School to even her friends.
However, since his ‘death’ she moved back in with her mother GiGi and is looking to start over. Well, it did not take her long to recover because she slept with Carlene’s brother, every episode she seeks to make up for her past mistakes, she already did the Christmas episode, we can already guess Bill with eventually come back, Carlen’s husband Rip (is holding secrets), Amanda was kissed by the husband of Sharon, Heather lost the lover of her life, Sharon is becoming stronger, Carlene and Amanda children will probably marry, Blake is gay etc, etc.
It seems, with this show, they are probably not expecting it to be on the air as long as Desperate Housewives because I can’t see a definitive reason to bring the show back for more than 1-3 seasons (which I am fine with). I have enjoyed watching the program but I can’t help thinking, they could of gotten better looking kids for Amanda and Bill because the kids are far from being attractive. I guess, I was looking for more of a Meghan Fox like person. Its like they are implying that most people in Texas a unattractive and those what are attractive are gay.
Amanda, to me, is simply getting annoying. Cricket is also annoying me with the way she is, talks and acts. The show has already revealed too much and we are only in the first season. I enjoy GiGi ( I always enjoy Designing Women). However, unless they plan to bring back Bill in season 2, Amanda gets a better storyline, the women move on from High School- this show is doomed.
